In Neillsville, WI, we have some great options for food. And the best pizza in town (and in nearby areas) can’t be found at any chain spots, but at hometown favorite restaurants where you can find delicious food and welcoming atmospheres.
Strike Time Restaurant and Lanes
Visit this spot for a fun time bowling and some good pizza. They’re at 11 S Grand Ave, and they are open from 4pm until 2am Tue-Fri, from 11am until 2am on Sat, and 5:30pm to 10:30pm on Monday. They have good service, fair prices, and things for everyone in the family to do (or eat).
Their pizzas come in standard 12′ and 16′, and you then build your pizza from there by adding any topping you like. They have bacon, Canadian bacon, grilled chicken, ground beef, Italian sausage, and pepperoni. And that’s just the meats. The vegetables as just as varied (and yes, they do have pineapple). Get some of their bourbon or ranch sauces to dip your pizza in, if you want our advice.
The Mug and Pizzaria
Head down the road a ways to N9505 Thunderbird Ln in Merrillan when you’re ready for a special night out. Your Chevrolet Silverado is up for the trip, and you’ll love it here. They are open from 11am until 9pm every day but Wed. They have amazing service, delicious food, and good prices. The drinks here are spot on, and if you choose to imbibe, please do so responsibly and never drink and drive.
This spot is also on the ATV trail, so it’s a great spot to hang out after a day out. Their thin or hand-rolled pizza crust is delicious, and we recommend the Mug Special, which is sausage, pepperoni, onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and cheese. They also do one they call the Mega Monster, which is absolutely all the meats, plus olives, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, bacon bits, and extra cheese.
Wedges Creek Hideaway
Pack up the Silverado and head north to W7355 Mann Rd and enjoy this great spot. This is obviously primarily a weekend getaway place, but one of the things they’re known for is their delicious pizza. They have a homemade brick oven, and the family has a passion for good pizza. Every Saturday during the summer, they put that passion to work making fantastic, wood-fired, authentic pizzas.
Every pizza is made with fresh, homemade dough, hand-rolled, and then topped with locally sourced, fresh ingredients. Expect Wisconsin cheese, fresh veggies, and meats like deluxe pepperoni and sausage. They also have a rotating selection of dessert pizzas that are always worth trying. Their oven reaches a blistering 750 degrees and takes four hours of preheating to get there: but once it’s there, it only takes two minutes to cook a pizza. That’s the secret to this wonder.
There’s nothing like pizza, and while you can get some from chain places here in our town, we hope we’ve clued you in on a few other ones you can try that are even better. And when you need a reliable ride to visit these spots, come see us at Gross Motors of Neillsville.
