Trim Levels (Exterior)

The base WT trim starts us off with 17-inch silver-painted steel wheels, a high-strength steel bed, a rear bumper with textured step pads, and a locking tailgate with protection caps. You'll also get to choose from signature topcoats like Red Hot and deep metallics such as Dark Ash and Northsky Blue. The remaining trims - Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, LT Trail Boss, RST, LTZ, and High Country - offer unique add-ons such as power-retractable assist steps, a six-function tailgate, and paints such as Cherry Red Tintcoat and Sand Dune Metallic. More impressive still, you can customize the cab and bed to suit your preferences. Options consist of a regular, double, or crew cab, along with either a short, standard, or long bed.

Engine (Power)

This vehicle runs with a standard 2.7-liter turbocharged engine capable of producing 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. Coupled with the unit is an eight-speed automatic transmission complete with a tow/haul mode, plus cruise and powertrain grade braking. A 3.0-liter turbo-diesel engine and 10-speed automatic transmission are available. Together they output 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. A 5.3-liter V-8 further yields 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, while a 6.2-liter V-8 tops the list with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

Performance

The Chevy Silverado 1500 features all-season tires, a brake pad wear indicator, an electric power steering system, and electronic stability control. What's more, you can expect up to 17 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway in four-wheel drive. Or, in two-wheel drive, you can get 19 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. Optional hardware includes advanced trailering accessories, all-terrain tires, an automatic locking rear differential, and a five-mode, dual-speed transfer case. A 13,300-pound towing capacity is also up for grabs, as is a 10.88-inch ground clearance exclusive to the Custom Trail Boss and LT Trail Boss.

Interior

The cabin comfortably seats between three and six passengers. It also accommodates over 35 inches of headroom and legroom and over 60 inches of hip and shoulder room. Moreover, it boasts a 7-inch color touch screen, Bluetooth audio streaming for up to two devices, and Android and Apple smartphone integration. Premium touches range from connected navigation services to a wireless charging dock to an 8-inch infotainment screen. You can also decorate the interior with a tilt-and-slide power sunroof, driver's seat lumbar support, and leather-appointed seat trim for added allure.

Safety Features

This pickup comes with six air bags to start, including head-curtain cushions and a front outboard passenger sensing system. A rear vision camera, tire pressure monitoring, and teen driver-focused technology are standard as well. Higher trims unlock some notable extras, from automatic emergency braking to hill descent control to a Safety Alert Seat with directional crash vibration cues. Meanwhile, tools such as a bed view camera, hitch view, and a head-up display offer enhanced visibility on the go.
